Ultra casual

These pictures are proof of the borderline weather we're experiencing lately. 24°C is pretty much Summer here, and we've been hitting awfully close to this temperature lately, with some super cold days in between. Tomorrow is supposed to be another warmer day. I'm not complaining, but I think my body gets confused and as my hobby is getting sick during the Winter, this weather is a tad dangerous. At least I got to flaunt my new (and very first) Eleven Paris tee. I swayed again for the Mickey and Minnie Mouse, still a kid at heart I guess. The shirt was only 12 euros at Urban Outfitters, scooore!

Mickey is an icon to me, I've had a stuffed mouse I called 'Mickey' since I was three and it's still very dear to me. I also dream to go to Disneyland Paris from the early age. Living so close to it, it's still ridiculous I never got to go, but it's somehow expensive and wasn't a priority, especially when you have to pay for your studies. I hope I get to go in the near future, maybe next year?!
Oh, how I'm bearing my soul here :)

Review: Ushuaya Mechelen

You all know those mails from pr-agencies or company's, asking for a review of their product. Usually the reviews are mostly about the category in which you position yourself as a blogger. Recently, however, I got an interesting invitation in the mail box. I was invited to discover a restaurant called Ushuaya, during a dinner for two. I'm nowhere near a food blogger or critic, for that matter, but several aspects caught my attention.

Ushuaya is lounge-bar and restaurant located in the heart of Mechelen and opened it's doors in August. As the name may suggest, you can expect Asian cuisine, but that's not all! Ushuaya delivers fusion cuisine from around the world
I'm passing through Mechelen by train almost every day on my way to work, so I gladly made a detour, cause frankly, who can say 'no' to a free dinner? I can't! I love food and love discovering and making dishes from different parts of the world.
When we arrived, I was surprised by how large and well decorated the place is. Ushuaya is located in a beautiful house from early 1800, it even has a status of a protected monument. Inside you can find different areas: the grand eating area, a lounge bar and patio with the view onto the main cathedral. The decoration shows some hints of different cultures, but everything goes so well together, without being tacky. Restaurant has a half-open kitchen, which if always great thing for me, you can see with your own eyes if the kitchen is well-kept
Ushuaya also has a separate children's room with supervision where the kids can play, and a monitor to keep an eye on your kid, while you enjoy your romantic dinner.

The menu was pretty elaborate and I always have a hard time choosing. To get an overall idea of the dishes, we decided to get the chef's menu, as it had three main dishes. You get quite a lot of  food for only 32 euros (sans dessert).

The menu consisted of:

- bread basket and olives
-wonton soup
- shrimp in sweet and sour sauce as an appetizer
- tajine, ribs and chicken wraps and fried potatoes as the main dish

By the way, the dishes that you get in the menu are slightly different from time to time. So every time is a small surprise.
Another positive aspect about the menu, they had some nice dessert choices. I got sabayon and the bf got tiramisu. Both were delish!!

Off course you get to know a restaurant when you visit it several times, but it left a good impression on us, so I would definitely go to eat out there again! The menu had a lot to offer and the prices were more than okay! The place was quite when we arrived, but the patio was well packed when we left.

I was also quite surprised of how beautiful the center of Mechelen looks in the evening, it reminded me a bit of Bruges or Lier.
We definitely had a nice evening and left Usuaya stuffed and happy.
I want to thank Dirk from Badass PR for the invitation!

If you want to discover what Ushuaya is all about yourself, here's where you have to be:

Striped top, fringed boots

Hi, guys! Not a lot to tell here. Weather has been fine. We're moving and organizing the house. I can't even tell how much I'm enjoying our new home. We got wifi now and I'm actually blogging from our home for the first time, yay! We also have digital-tv, so hello to 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians'!

Glad to finally wear my Isabel Marant for H&M boots on the blog. I got them a while ago, new for a fraction of the price. Though, they look cool, they are a bit uncomfortable. I usually go one size up for boots, but because this pair is pretty wide around the ankle, my feet slip out of  'em. Thick socks do help. I know the boots have been pretty popular, but are 'out' now, but it's so me to start wearing a piece when the hype is blown over. I feel like they're a perfect wardrobe staple piece for that slight bohemian touch.

Wearing; COS top, Levi's jeans, Isabel Marant x H&M boots, River Island earrings, H&M hat.

Striped dress, overknee boots and a cat

Let me tell you what's new here. Nothing major, but I cut my hair a bit, to have some layers and get rid of the too dry blond ends. At least I have some more volume now and can brush my hair decently. I have been lusting over lob (long bob) cuts on Pinterest, but I'm still too much of a coward to go shorter. Maybe next year (I probably say this every year).

New in, are my overknee boots, so very happy with them. They're super comfortable, so a perfect sneaker replacement for colder days. I think investing in high quality footwear is a must once you pass the age of 25 or even earlier, if possible. My excuse is that I have 'difficult' feet, so I don't have much choice. I actually also own a pair of high heel suede overknee boots, but still need to take them out for a spin. I can't believe how many pairs of shoes and boots I have lying around. Definitely need more occasions to wear them.
Also new is my hat, cause I can' manage to find my beloved vintage one for a long time. This hat comes from H&M for just 19.95 and is a pretty good replacement.
The dress is already from last year, I wore it quite often, but somehow it didn't get to the blog, until now.

While outfit pictures, our beloved cat, Jamie, came from her stroll and decided to join us. She is quite a diva and demands attention. If it's time to pet you have to leave everything you are doing. I literally had to push her out of the frame and missy wasn't pleased! I like having her on the pictures, though. I feel that Halloween vibe already. Back to being my witchy self, I guess.

Plaid shirt and ripped jeans

Have you noticed that it's getting dark so quickly? Well, it became painfully clear to me when we tried to shoot this outfit last weekend. It was hard to get something out of the camera, 'cause it seemed with each second there was less and less light. I still like how the pictures turned out, I wish I had more useful images, though.

Not much to tell otherwise, I have not been feeling well this week, still suffering from a virus I caught a month! ago. This is the first time in forever that I have to take antibiotics, so I hope they help, 'cause I kind of like having normal functioning ears. Mostly lot's of rest for me now, I get tired pretty fast too and haven't been to the gym in ages. Oh, well, Winter is coming anyway.
I must admit I kind of like October. Halloween is coming, the new tv-season has started, it's still not too cold and the days are still pretty long, unless you have to take outfit pictures in the evening. Hah, and the circle is complete.

Peace out and have a nice weekend, peoplez!

Time for change

I.The Layout

As you might have noticed I changed my blog layout or better say finally came around to changing it. I guess being sick in bed does have it's own advantages. I won't lie and say I'm a major HTML-wizard, I can adjust some basic code, but that's it. A while ago I started researching the blogger design possibilities. I wanted something light and a bit different from what I had, but not too different. Quiet fast I found some templates online, for a small amount of money you can buy a nice blogger template from Etsy or search via Pinterest.
I ended up buying a template from Shiny Magic on Etsy and after some small editing, mostly to change the width of the blog and get Disqus to work (it was being a major bitch!) I have a new blog layout I'm happy with.

II.The Home

I mentioned it about a zillion times, but there I go again, we're finally moving our stuff, decorating, but also still renovating our house!! I'm more than excited, because the ground floor of our house has started to look like a home at last. We still need to paint the kitchen and finish a part of the bathroom, but the living room looks pretty decent already. We still need some furniture and some decoration. Zara home, here I come! I hope to be able to show you some pictures in the coming months, but for now some living room inspiration that fits to what I aim to achieve. Off course my boyfriend has a say in it too, haha :) Luckily our taste is pretty similar.

As you can see I love darker shades of grey combined with whites. But some of our walls actually have a color (dark one though). Can you guess which?

Striped shirt and slip-ons

Well, I still can't believe this Indian Summer keeps on going.
It makes me wish I could take off for a relaxed holiday or weekend, but that's not happening at the moment, but at least we're furnishing our home and I can't wait to make it cosy. At this point it still could go into different directions, we got most of our living room furniture. Now I can't wait to buy the small decorations. There goes my money again! What I aim to do is to make our home as clutter free as possible, as I'm kind of a hoarder. Most important is to make it feel like a home, though.

I'm happy this weekend is sunny again, because I'm still not ready to fully wear my Fall wardrobe.
